Customize my site appearance

The basic themes can often be customized, allowing you to change background and font colors, and styles. This can be done in a number of ways. Firstly, make sure that you are signed into your emenu browser website, via the link at the bottom of the page. You can tell that you are signed in, by the large Edit / Dashboard bar that appears at the top of the page. What would you like to do?

Change the background color

Changing the background color is a quick and easy way to change the mood of your emenu browser website, and can have a big impact on visitors to your site.

Tip! Light colors are fresh and clean, while darker colors are more cosy and warm. Try using tools such as Adobe Kuler to generate a cohesive scheme that matches your business branding.

1. Hover over the 'Dashboard' button in the toolbar, at the top of the screen. In the menu that appears, select 'Themes'.
2. To alter this theme, click the 'Customize' button on your active theme.
   (Tip! You should see your active theme highlighted in blue)
3. Click on the 'Background' icon and choose your new color, by moving the arrows up and down the colour scale, and by dragging and dropping the small circle to the right location. Then click 'Ok'.
   (Tip! You can also enter the Hex number for your color instead, if you prefer)
4. Click 'Save' and then click on the 'Return to website' button at the top-left hand corner to see your website in its new livery.

Wait! Changing background on Premium templates may not work, as many templates contain images blended into the background. This means, if you try to change the background image, the appearance maybe compromised. If you find this is the case, don't worry; you can always click 'Reset' to restore the original color palette.

Change text color / font

1. Hover over the 'Dashboard' button in the toolbar, at the top of the screen. In the menu that appears, select 'Themes'.
2. To alter this theme, click the 'Customize' button on your active theme.
   (Tip! You should see your active theme highlighted in blue)
3. There are a number of settings for customizing text appearance. In each case, click the color-changer or font-changer next to the text that you want to alter:
   
   • 'Header Logo' - Change the text color of the restaurant name and the menu headings.
   • 'Body' - Change the default main text color.
   • 'Body' - Change the default main text font.
   • 'Link' - Change the color of website links.
   • 'Link Hover' - Change the color of text when you hover over a website link.

Tip! If you find the new colors don't work the way you hoped, don't worry you can always click 'Reset' to restore the original color palette.

Install a custom CSS

If you understand how to use CSS, you can override any settings in the theme via the CSS upload functionality.

1. Hover over the 'Dashboard' button in the toolbar, at the top of the screen. In the menu that appears, select 'Themes'.
2. To alter this theme, click the 'Customize' button on your active theme.
   (Tip! You should see your active theme highlighted in blue)
3. Click 'Add Your CSS' and then insert your CSS into the pop-up box.

Tip! If you wish to use an image in your CSS. Upload the image via the File Manager and then click on the image and choose the 'Properties' option. In the pop-up window make a note of the 'URL to File' so that you can reference it in your CSS content.

Change theme

Changing theme can be done either as a complete website or on a page-by-page basis (although the latter could lead to a less cohesive-looking website).

Change theme for whole website

1. Hover over the 'Dashboard' button in the toolbar, at the top of the screen. In the menu that appears, select 'Themes'.
2. Click 'Activate' on the require theme
3. Click 'OK'

Change the theme for a page

1. On the page you wish to change, hover over 'Edit' in toolbar
2. Select the 'Design' link from dropdown and then click on the theme you want to apply.
3. Click 'Save' and then apply the changes by going to 'Edit' and click 'Publish'

Wait! Bespoke and Premium Templates may have additional block areas that are not present on the basic themes. As a result, you may need to rearrange your Blocks for content to appear as you require.
